Researchers are busy investigating the Bramley censuses 1841-1901.

Bramley Census

We have formed a group to study the Bramley census (1841 -1901) which we aim to gradually transcribe. We have started by mapping the routes taken by the enumerators and listing the heads of households. We've selected some families who have lived in Bramley throughout the period for further study. We are also linking the census to other sources available for Victorian Bramley such as the Parish records, Rev RC Toogood's 'History of Bramley', old Parish magazines and information from the Hampshire Record Office.

In time we hope to form a comprehensive record of Victorian Bramley for those interested in Bramley's history or in their own family history. Research is being published on a Google site to aid its compilation and management. Permission to view the site has to be granted by the group's administrator and so it is unfortunately not possible to link directly from this web site.

This is very much a work in progress. If you are interested in joining the study group or would like access to our research click here to contact the administrator Pat Thompson.
